ON THE DEFECTION OF NASARAWA DEPUTY GOVERNOR by ADAMU UMAR - TopicsExpress

ON THE DEFECTION OF NASARAWA DEPUTY GOVERNOR by ADAMU UMAR ZAKARI DAILY TRUST It is such a shame that one bites the finger that generously fed it. This is the case with some politicians in our dear state Nasarawa. The inevitable wings of defection that engulfed the entire Fifth Republic political space have found its way to our dear State Nasarawa. We therefore are reluctantly pained to write this piece in order to set the record straight. We also feel it is appropriate to defend the hard earned integrity and reputation of the Governor of Nasarawa State and the A.P.C which has been at the receiving end. The relationship between the Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura and His Deputy has been cordial with insinuation from certain quarters that the latter is a most trusted and perfect companion. The Governor gives him free hand to operate in the capacity of the Deputy Governor and in some cases covering the duties of the Governor. That is why his kinsmen have distanced themselves from his defection. They enumerate some of the benefits the tribe gained from APC Government of Governor Al-makura, which include, township road, a first class chiefdom, appointment of four permanent secretaries, construction of Model Hospital, Ta’al model school, construction of E-library as well as planned improvement on the structures of the College of Education Akwanga. His kinsmen are worried that he is not considering all these. But since the announcement and subsequent takeover of the interim Chairmanship of the All Progressive Congress (APC) by Stanley Buba (his kinsman)the relationship between the Governor and his Deputy turned sour, with the latter feeling uncomfortable as to why Buba was made Protem Party chairman without his blessings. This led to the frosty relationship between the Governor and the Deputy. Since then most reports shows that the deputy governor has never been sincere.
