ON WAR AND CIVILIAN DEATH I do not rejoice at the death of even one Gazan, I only wish for them to leave us alone. If that means we fight them and as a result there are civilian deaths, that is regrettable. But we cannot allow the Hamas willingness to use the Gazan people as hostages to protect their war machine, one with which they intend to destroy us. Compassion is a noble thing but compassion can be misplaced. Good judgement and wisdom often involves deciding for whom you will reserve your compassion. My guide comes from our tradition, which says that when you are kind to the cruel you will be cruel to the kind. If we do not eliminate the cruel Hamas they will most surely eliminate the kind and sweet Jewish children and our innocent people.
