ON WHAT TO EAT AND WHAT NOT TO EAT This issue of what to eat - TopicsExpress

ON WHAT TO EAT AND WHAT NOT TO EAT This issue of what to eat and what not to eat is being taken to extremes in some quarters. Some dieticians - and some quacks - make it appear like once a human eats properly and exercises adequately, then hell definitely be healthy. As important as eating properly and exercising adequately are, they are not the primary bases for sound health. First and foremost sound health is from the Almighty God, based on our Covenant Relationship with Him, which especially includes our Holy Spirit empowered obedience to His Law [as reapplied in Christ]. The Almighty God states emphatically, without mincing words, And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee (Exo 23:25); And the LORD will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee; but will lay them upon all them that hate thee. (Deut 7:15); And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him (Jms 5:15). Then, as it applies to all other areas of life, what constitutes proper diet must be based on the Word of God. I hear some people - including Christians - talk as if a non-meat diet is the best; that is, they say, Be as vegetarian as possible! This is absurd. It was God who commanded humanity through Noah to eat meat. Heavy meat diet was consumed during the numerous sacrifices in the Old Testament (and this included the dreaded red meats!), as commanded by God through Moses. Jesus ate meat without discrimination. The Apostles, like St. Paul, followed along the same line of reasoning: Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth (1Tim 4:3); see the next two verses. Just as Dr. Gary North has taken the time to hammer out the Biblical Principles of Economics etc, we need some [Reconstructionist] Christian to do the same in the area of Biblical Dietician Issues. Meanwhile, brethren, weigh every dietary instruction under the focus of Gods Word.
