OPEN LETTER TO HIS EXCELLENCY PETER AYODELE FAYOSE, - TopicsExpress

OPEN LETTER TO HIS EXCELLENCY PETER AYODELE FAYOSE, THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF EKITI STATE BY OLUWASHINA AWOPEJU (Engr China) I congratulate your excellency on your victory at the poll which gave you the second chance of serving your people also placing you on record for defeating two incumbents governors. From the little I know about you as the peoples’ Governor whose ultimate goal is to leave behind a legacy of service to our state which eventually brought you back to office after 8 years. I am addressing this letter to you and sharing it with the public because the issue it seeks to address relate to public interest which is often randomly debated in the students abode. I am a concerned citizen of EKITI State and a student of EKSU who appreciates your track record but will not shy away from telling you what I think you need to hear in your well known desire to continue to do your best for our state. It is pertinent to give a brief account of what lead to this letter put up to you: the immediate past government promised all the state own higher institutions a flat rate of #50,000 school fees which he only followed to the letter in his first year in office. It is absurd that a government could make a promise and renege on it. The preeminent reason I am addressing this letter to your Honor for is the action of a serving Governor from the centre of excellence Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) who took an action similar to the one I am recommending to you with this letter because if I don’t do it, there is no way you are likely to ever get to know about it from your ivory tower. Most, if not all of our political leaders including our President and Governors, all live in a cocoon or bubble. They are rarely in touch with the stark realities of our country and the urgent needs of their states or the need to do something about what they observe. The action being the completely reversal of LASU school fee after years students have been struggling with the exorbitant fees. Though many claim the removal of the obnoxious policies was due to the defeat of his counterpart by you. It is imperative to put this letter to you in other remind you of your promises on school fees before the election in which the melody changed immediately you got elected. It was said by you in a phone conversation between you and one of the students of EKSU few days after the election on our progress FM that a committee will be set up to look into the issues surrounding school fees because the outgone administration has incurred a high debt profile. But its to be noted that Mr Governor was aware of the debt in the state before showing the interest to contest for the post. The chief demand of the students is the reduction if not total reversal in the hike in school fee and we are expecting prompt action on this as soon as possible. We look forward to your intervention sir. We will however plead that the government take this as a serious issue before its too late. God bless EKSU God bless Ekiti State God bless Federal Republic of Nigeria Com. Oluwashina Awopeju Engr China
