OPERATION CONSERVATION... When you keep animals in captivity it is very important that they are given more than just food and shelter. They must have access to resources which allow them to perform natural behaviours - this is critical for mental and physical well-being. We try to give our animals enrichment and feed them in ways which make them work for their food. African wild dogs are Endangered in the wild. WMSP is part of a European wide captive breeding programme and we now have a large pack of 10 - mum, dad and 8 young dogs. Enrichment such as hiding food in boxes, hanging meat, spreading scent around the enclosure makes the dogs think, work and act together to promote pack bonding. :) (Photos by Adam Fincher)
