Wooden Nickel - Venue Championship - 12.04.14 We had 20 of 21 show up (Elvis has left the building). This was a knock down drag out game. Ive always heard of the intensity of the Wooden Nickel Venue Championship but to see it live. Each Player, playing it like they wanted it. One player was lost per blind level until 400/800. This is with half the field of known loose players. I was to interview each on why they played so tight, the response would be - (We talkin bout Practice, not a game, not a game I love, not a game where I put it all on the line...We talkin bout practice) Ive never seen such tight play here. Alex Delaney 8. Wilson 7. Red 6. Chirag Patel 5. JD (grand champion) 4. The Comeback Kid 3. Stephen Henderson A fitting end to the Venue Championship is a classic heads up battle. I froze the blinds at 8000/16000. The blinds werent gonna win this game. We were gonna see poker, so the clock was swallowed. They were trading chips back and forth like boxers in the first round slightly even. But Joe was slightly ahead and then had Scott right were he wanted him, A5 vs Q8 Flop comes KJ4 Joe calls for an Ace Turn T, Joe calls for and Ace He gets his Ace on the river, be careful what you wish for. He thought he had the game wrapped until I push the borad up, Scott knew, I knew, and Joe was in total shock. the next hand Scotts KT has Joes J5 with 90% of the chips from last hand. Then the flop Q5Q turn (no paint), river (no paint). Corey returns to the box and the next few hands Joe Builds back up with another double up, then..............
