OPP SEARCHING FOR ASSAULT SUSPECT IN SHANTY BAY AREA Police are searching for a man believed to have assaulted a Shanty Bay-area resident Thursday morning. Barrie OPP is investigating an assault that happened at about 7:45 a.m. at the residence in Oro-Medonte Township. A victim was taken to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie with non-life-threatening injuries. Barrie OPP was assisted by the Central Region Tactical and Rescue Unit and the Canine Unit as part of the initial investigation. The suspect was described as a white man with a slight build, in his late 20s, about five-foot-eight with a narrow face and grey stubble. The suspect was wearing a greyish/blue tuque and a mid-length jacket, possibly blue in colour, police said. The Barrie OPP Crime Unit and Central Region Forensic Identification Services Unit are continuing to investigate.
