ORO’S ONLY OPTION – STRATEGIC ALIGNMENT “The beginning, - TopicsExpress

ORO’S ONLY OPTION – STRATEGIC ALIGNMENT “The beginning, middle, and end of the birth, growth and perfection of whatever we behold are from contraries, by contraries, and to contraries; and whatever contrariety is, there is action and reaction, there is motion, diversity, multitude, and order, there are degrees, succession and vicissitude.” – Giordano Bruno. The only reality in certainty is as God really is. He alone has total control of the concept called certainty. Human existence and interrelations remain as volatile and unsteady as times and seasons captured in Ecclesiastes 3. A perfect understanding of this fact leaves one or a people with no alternative than to strive to attain invincibility while remaining un-flurried and good-natured. Attaining invincibility amounts to learning to be scrappy and tough. It amounts to taking brutal pleasure in carrying the heaviest of packs one could over long and dreaded paths. It amounts to charging headlong into the roughest terrain ignoring cold, rain, heat, bugs, and internal discomforts. It requires both physical and mental toughness. My People! My People!!! For some weeks now, I have been silent, not because I have been gagged or lost hope in my pursuit to add value to the politics of the day as it affects my fatherland. I have had to take time to reason and brainstorm on the way forward. I have also been watching our supposedly great party after the charade of December 6 2014, they still haven’t thought it wise to even attempt to call the house together. At this point in time, I can confidently say that Oro has only one option if we are to come out of the predicament. we face as a people. The Oro story can only be long and chequered. It is not without pity and letdowns. Starvation and deprivation as we know are veritable instruments of war and Oro must not seek a sign language instructor to understand her marginalization and exclusion from the scheme of the present government in Akwa Ibom state. It is natural to cut supply to the rival side while stock-pilling same on the reverse side – a better explanation is found in the forfeiture of the reluctant gift of Attorney General of the state to the reverse side because there is a better understanding of the present struggle by the reverse side. Further insights are seen in the manner the pursuit of Maritime Academy upgrade (to effectively train competent Sea farers) and Ibaka Deep Seaport project is handled compared to the handling of the take-off of Federal Polytechnic Ukana, Ikot Ekpene, Four Star Hotel to cite just very few examples. To cap it off, PDP Akwa Ibom a few weeks back allotted key positions in the state with willful intent of leaving Oro bare for the next 24 years in the interim. Pathetic the story may sound. Gloomy the horizon may appear. These, to war strategists are motivators and necessary ingredients that strengthen the moral and mental resolve of any emancipator. The antics of the reverse side are more psychological than physical. It is that of cowing the naturally dogged Oro people to accept the status quo as their fate. The Oro people rather are better informed. They instead see unfolding events as defining moment of their interrelations with the reverse side. Oro may be starved, deprived, marginalised, excluded etcetera but cannot be robbed of her consciousness, toughness, ruggedness, doggedness and sense of direction. A time will never come when Oro will be dispirited, robbed of her self-worth and beaten into irredeemable servitude. Oro is aware of where she is coming from, where she is and where she is heading. Our feet have been toughened by the many broken bottles we have threaded in the course of the struggle. The reverse side and its commander-in-chief wallows in fantasy of triumph within the confines of governmental barbette but the future will sure decide how they wince outside their comfort zone. It is a myth, the perception that they are born tough. Toughness is cultivated through challenges and difficulties and not inherited. Oro has over time been exposed to the elements. She is familiar with the terrain. “He that is down fears no fall.” “He who pulls down a person must himself be down with his victim.” The reverse side having been acclimatized to the comfort of either the No.1 or No.2 position in Akwa Ibom since the advent of the present political dispensation, made the mistake of jumping down from her high horse to pull down a man that has been down for 16 years running. The consequence can better be imagined as a fight back is more natural than anticipated. It is instructive at this point that Oro enters into a treaty with our eldest brother (Ibibio) for definition of terms and specifics on the redress of this conspicuous and serial injustice perpetrated by the beneficiary of a privilege bestowed by a benevolent duo of the elder and younger brothers (Ibibio and Oron). The privilege has so been exploited to the extent that the beneficiary has finalized arrangements to occupy the No.2 seat 16 years and the No.1 seat for 8 years whereas Uyo Senatorial District (USD) which forms the core of the Akwa Ibom family would have only occupied the No.1 seat for 8 years in all of 24 years. This dictatorial scheme is so inhuman and bereft of any iota of morality that the Oro who in conjunction with the head of the family ensured the birth of the raped privilege is completely ostracized. There is a consummate level of amnesia in the “system” such that the letter conveying Oro’s position far back in 2006 that the privilege which has turned out to be ultimately bastardised be extended to the beneficiary is completely forgotten. The sacrificial role of Arc. Otu Ita Toyo, Late Pastor Oyong Asuquo (God bless his memory) and various other honest Oro people have altogether been thrown to the dogs for whatever intent or purpose. The contribution of Late Senator Victor Akan in the making of the first ever Annang governor cannot be reckoned by the “system”. The beneficiary’s direct benefactor, H.E Obong Victor Attah becomes the worst hit by the outsmart-all scheme of “the most powerful” of PDP of today. A lot more contraries should be expected. A grand design by the ‘’system’’ is to ensure that inept and spoon-fed legislators are installed at the state and national levels besides the “anointed” at the helm in the state using the PDP machinery to allow for easy ride all the way to 2023 in the first instance. Must we not abandon a party whose state of helplessness is as pathetic as was aptly described by its national chairman when he challenged the national leader on the level of injustice inherent in the party? After all, Oro has nothing to show for the 16 solid years she has supported and worked for the PDP other than the satanic conspiracy by the state and national leadership of the party to perpetually castrate and emasculate Oro. (we must not only blame the governor for this, in all of the last 16 years, we have had LGA Chairmen, Commissioners, Members of Houses of Assembly and Representatives – What roles did they play). Must we accept the insanity of the ‘larger than life’ of today who claims we have no choice? Professor Soyinka once said ’’The man dies in all who keep silent in the face tyranny’’. Is it true that we have no choice? Oro, our destiny cannot be tied to a party (gang up) that desires and works towards our extinction politically. We cannot be at the beck and call of evil conspirators and insensate grabbers. We cannot possibly break through the wall and move on having been pushed to it. We must proof a point that at least we have a choice. The destiny, pride, name and worth of the unborn Oro generation must not be left in the balance. If we must lose, we must do so gallantly and not with our hearts in our mouths. ‘’Cowards die many times before their deaths; The valiant never taste death but once. Of all the wonders I yet have heard, it seems to me most strange that men should fear; seeing that death, a necessary end, Will come when it will come’’ – William Shakespear. Obong Umana Okon Umana is of the Uyo Senatorial District. Uyo Senatorial District just like Oro happens to have been battered, assaulted and humiliated to a level she cannot even be allowed to decide who represents her at any level. Uyo Senatorial District in 2007 decided that Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District with particular reference to Annang should take the number one seat so it would rotate to Eket Senatorial District with specific reference to Oro. The lofty arrangement unfortunately met waterloo in the hands of the ‘system’, thus, the compelling need to return to Uyo Senatorial District for a rescue of the Akwa Ibom mandate and a return to the path of justice defined by the Attah administration. This becomes an absolute necessity if Oro must reclaim her stolen mandate from the ‘system’. Obong Umana Okon Umana of the APC, an alternative but suitable platform on which the reclamation crusade is anchored has carefully traced the indelible prints of the father of modern Akwa Ibom (H. E Obong Victor Attah) on the sands of justice, equity, fairplay, inclusion and good conscience by choosing a full-blooded Oro son, Engr. Ben Ukpong as his running mate in the February 28, 2015 gubernatorial election to prepare the way for Oro in 2023. A choice that cannot by any standard be compared to the conspiracy by the PDP to shut Oro out for 40 good years in the interim. This is a clarion call to the true Oro natives to avert the danger of dinning with ‘system’ (PDP) and shutting down Oro for 40 years. It is a call to fight for posterity, our survival, our destiny, our pride and our name. it is a call for a fight against Oro’s political and socio-economic extinction. It is a call for a fight against the many deprivations, cheats, oppressions and humiliation of Oro. It is a call for the fight against the relocation of the Ibaka Deep Seaport like the relocation of Mobil many years back. It is a call for a fight to keep our name or lose it forever. It is a call to vote out tyranny and vote in hope, peace, unity, justice, inclusion, and good conscience. It is a deep-seated cry for A STRATEGIC ALIGNMENT with Uyo Senatorial District; a choice we must pick with the urgency it deserves. ‘’Some say that I should settle down, go slower and not push so hard, so quickly for such a transformational change and that I am young with many years ahead of me. To them I say that you misunderstand the size of the problem we face, the strength of the status quo and the urgency of the people’s desire for change.’’ – Eliot Spitzer. IF YOU ASK ME, A VOTE FOR THE DUO OF CHIEF UMANA UMANA and ENGINEER BENEDICT UKPONG (A TRUE ORO SON) OF THE APC IS A VOTE FOR THE EMANCIPATION OF THE ORO PEOPLE GOD BLESS THE ENTIRE ORO NATION WITH WISE VOTES ON 28 FEB 2015.
