OSUN 2014: JONATHAN DUMPS OMISORE FOR ADELEKE Indications have emerged that the national leader of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, President Goodluck Jonathan has dumped the much touted “would be” candidate of the PDP in the oncoming gubernatorial election in the state of Osun, Mr. Iyiola Omisore for a former senator, Isiaka Adeleke. It was gathered that President Jonathan and the National Leadership of the Party wondered why an aspirant vying for the exalted office of a governor would not possess a voter’s card. Bioreports had earlier revealed that Mr. Omisore has no voter’s card as a result of multiple registration he did during the 2011 registration exercise, hence party stakeholders in the State Chapter of the PDP are rooting for another aspirants as its flag bearer ahead of the election either through a violence free primary election or a consensus option. Senator Isiaka Adeleke is now the new beautiful bride of the Party and he is likely to be presented as the party’s flag bearer, though the former senator never shown interest in the gubernatorial race because he did not purchase the expression of interest form but it has been gathered that the rules guiding the purchase of the form will be relaxed to accommodate the new entrant or better still, he will use a form belonging to one of the aspirants who had already purchased it for an agreement. It was gathered that the president and the national leadership of the party are not comfortable with Omisore’s candidature for obvious reason of not having a voter’s card which may lead to litigation from different quarters as some civil society groups have been threatening such already, also, Omisore has always been a controversial and stigmatisation of Ige’s murder case is still hanging around his neck, as it is obvious that the Yoruba people will reject the party if Omisore eventually gets the party’s nod to contest among many others, “the party’s hierarchy cannot risk a man with all these questionable stance to be its candidate in a crucial election like that of Osun” a party source said. This seemingly underground plan is causing disaffection within the ranks of the party members as some interest groups had indicated interest in supporting Senator Adeleke who he is less controversial. However, the latest development has tore Osun PDP apart as loyalists of Omisore has threatened to foment trouble should the party rejects his candidature, saying he has been so supportive financially to the party while Adeleke has not supported the party with a dime in the last three years. Information gathered by Bioreports revealed that the former Governor of Osun, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola and the former Osun PDP Secretary, Mr Samson Adeojo among others were part of the party members who have been given Adeleke necessary support to run for the governorship race. An insider source told Bioreports that two chieftains of the party; Samson Adeojo and another chieftain known as KK were at the PDP National Headquarter in Abuja to obtain nominated delegates’ form in respect of the new anointed governorship aspirant
