OSUN ELECTION TRIBUNAL UPDATE: Punch Correspondent in trouble over false report of Thursday proceeding...... It was a bad day for Femi Makinde, the punch correspondent who wrote a story published in the punch newspapers of today friday 12th of December, 2014 regarding tribunal’s proceedings of Thursday, 11th December under the headline “Omisore establish over- voting in Oriade Local Government”. Chief Akin Olujinmi SAN, counsel to the 1st Respondent drew the attention of the tribunal to the false publication on page 10 of the Punch Newspapers which did not represent what happened yesterday at the tribunal. He said “i want to bring to the notice of this honourable tribunal, a false publication in the punch where it was alleged that Omisore established over-voting in Oriade Local Government. My Lord will recall that at the inception of this tribunal, your Lordship admonished the members of the press on the need for true reportage of proceedings in this court. We were therefore shocked to read this blatant falsehood in today’s Punch Newspapers as it does not represent what happened yesterday in court. The Chairman of the tribunal asked whether the reporter is in court, but was nowhere to be found. The Chairman said they were shocked about the report and demand the presence of the correspondent before them to explain why disciplinary action should not be taken against him. Tribunal adjourned proceedings till Thursday after the 1st respondent had called 5 witnesses in defence of the petition.
