OUR DESIRE TO KNOW GOD.. And ye shall seek me,and find me,when ye shall search for me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13 All over the world we find temples,mosques,churches and religious gatherings of one kind and another.Why do you think such is the case? Anthropologists respond that humans have a religious nature,but the question goes deeper than that. How did the longing for something more emerge?Where did the desire to know God and to worship Him come from?Who put it there?Christians are quick to respond,God did. Thats how He made us! The book of Ecclesiastes says that,He hath made every thing beautiful in his time:also he hath set the world in their heart,so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end. Ecclesiastes 3:11 Does it matter whether our desire to know God was hard-wired into our DNA or simply born in our heart? The fact is we want to know God so that we can be assured that we came into the world for a reason,and that we can have peace with Him. God would have been cruel to create us with a desire to know Him unless He had also made provision for that need to be met, for our questions to be answered,and for our search to end in His embracing us in His great love.He put that thirst in our heart so that He could fully satisfy it. The psalmist puit it this way,For he satisfieth the longing soul,and filleth the hungry soul with goodness. Psalm 107:9 Do you want to know God in a deeper and more fulfilling way?Humble your heart,bend your knees and tell Him.Let the words flow,tears too. He knows your heart and understands.
