OUT IN A FEW DAYS : FRAGIL 10 : IMUGEM ORIHASAM / CLOSER VIEW EP + RAPHAEL & LOW JACK REMIX Early support from Surgeon, Cosmin Trg, Par Grindvik, Norman Nodge & Ivan smagghe The enigmatic Imugem Orihasam, whose ‘Over’ EP helped kick-start the fledgling Fragil Musique imprint back in 2011, returns to the French label with the typically adventurous, techno-tinged ‘Closer View’ EP. Deriving from the cosmic fog of Orihasam’s secretive studio in the mountains of North Japan, the four track ‘Closer View’ meanders through futuristic cityscapes at various tempos, all with the sharpest aptitude for production that he has quietly become famous for. Title track ‘Closer View’ is a dark and brazen opener, where bass notes skulk ominously and otherworldly, industrial vibrations skittle around until a hard (yet perfectly carved) drum line comes in for the full dance floor assault. Orihasam’s one and a half minute ‘Shakjer’ is reworked into an impressive ghetto DJ tool by label boss Raphaël and Paris based Low Jack; an unpredictably, eerie groove teeming with the original’s disquieted presence. ‘Any point in the air’ sees Orihasam pull back on the tempo, giving his sonic incarnations space to breathe.
