OVAL diamond buying TIPS! The GIA does not grade fancy shape diamonds for cut but here are some basic guidelines to help you pick a diamond with the best shape appeal. Length to width ratio between 1.33-1.66:1 - look for a symmetrical, gently rounded shape with no flat edges - Depth 58 to 70% & Table 53-64% - culet none to small - polish & symmetry good to excellent – fluorescence none to faint - no dark, prominent bow tie. A diamond may be outside some of these parameters & still be GORGEOUS. As always your eye is the best tool, select a diamond that appears white, has plenty of SPARKLE & no dark or dead spots. Most importantly, choose the diamond that looks most BEAUTIFUL to YOU.
