OVERVIEW We are developing an egalitarian community learning - TopicsExpress

OVERVIEW We are developing an egalitarian community learning center to host practical and expressive arts for all ages, based near St. Martins in rural southern New Brunswick on the Fundy coast. This pristine landscape is a perfect location for creativity and communication to provide opportunities for personal growth and community organization. Many in this circle have important knowledge to share in the areas of permaculture, healing arts, food preparation and preservation skills for optimum health. We are farmers, circus stars, yogis, adventurers, musicians, visual artists, carpenters, and others with talents and gifts, learning to share freely, grow organically, live abundantly and sustainably. The farm we will collectively purchase is inhabited by an accomplished painter and organic gardener. The house is equipped with a woodworking shop, art studio, two livingrooms, four bedrooms, an open studio, and a cellar for storing produce that has a freshwater spring, ensuring clean drinking water in the case of a power outage. The barn is plenty large for events to be held inside, as well as housing livestock. Chickens and miniature horses have made these grounds fertile for the past 16 years and their contributions of natural fertilizer will continue. Fall 2015, the current owners will be ready to move out of the house and into one of their newly renovated cottages next door; which is valuable as we get to keep them handy with all their knowledge, skills, and experience. The other next door neighbor has 30 acres of fertile land, a huge unused greenhouse, plus an additional large house where we can expand projects. We will partner with existing groups such as the local Communiteers to help support ongoing work with the village community garden and involvements with school students in gardening and healthy cooking classes. Our organization, a branch of the Action Hero Network, is structured using talking circles and transparency through open communication. We value common respect to provide freedom, safe space, and abundance through permaculture. As collective stewards of the property we will manage the farm to be peaceful and productive through shared responsibilities and scheduled co-operative gatherings. The house will be maintained by artists in residence and volunteers as a space for people from all walks of life to pass through, spreading knowledge and experience. Our world needs many more models like what we are creating, and we ask for your support now to make that happen. The promotion we can all offer through social media is an effective way to freely inspire many people to think about how they can take part to develop a community blueprint and natural sanctuaries for the benefit of everyone. Funding from Aviva will enable us to provide a great start to this amazing idea that we can all celebrate and watch grow in the years to come. Thank you for taking the time to consider our offering.
