Obesity rates in the United Arab Emirates rival those of the US, and Dubai has decided it is time to do something about the problem. The gold- and diamond-trading hub has announced an exciting new incentive program that it hopes will entice residents to lose weight. Participants in the 30-day program will be paid a gram of gold for every kilogram of weight they shed. There is no limit to the amount of gold a participant can earn, though one must drop at least two kilos in order to receive a payout. A gram of gold is currently valued at over $40.
