Sullivan, that era’s foremost American television impresario, saw the Beatles mobbed by fans as he traveled through Heathrow airport. Impressed by the fervor of the Fab 4’s admirers, he quickly booked them on his show, and the British Invasion began. Amazingly, after only seven games with the Washington Capitols, Lloyd was drafted into the military and sent to Korea for two years. When he returned to the United States, the Capitols had gone out of business. Lloyd was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2003.
