October 31, 2014 Dear Parents, It has been my pleasure - TopicsExpress

October 31, 2014 Dear Parents, It has been my pleasure to serve you and your children over the last 19 years as a teacher and an administrator at Model Laboratory School. These are exciting times at Eastern and Model as we move toward a revitalized vision under the leadership of President Benson. This process provides the opportunity to reflect and reframe direction and priorities on an institutional level as well as individually. Within that context, I wish to inform you of my decision to step down as Model’s director in order to pursue emerging professional opportunities within the College of Education. This change will become effective November 17. Due to the timing of this transition, Dean Lowe has appointed College of Education colleague Dr. Ann Burns to serve as the interim director of Model for the remainder of the 2014-2015 academic year. Consistent with school and university policies, the school council will soon receive training in principal selection and a search for a new director will be initiated by the College of Education and chaired by the Dean in early spring. As in the past, your input along with Model and EKU community members will be solicited during this process. Within the next few days you will receive an invitation to meet Dr. Burns. A reception will be hosted to meet and have conversation with the new interim director so please be alerted for the invitation. In closing, I want to thank both past and present Model teachers, staff, parents and students for their support and effort in not only making Model a special school in which to learn and grow, but also such a wonderful place to serve. Please feel free to contact me or Dr. Verna Lowe if you have any questions regarding this transition in Model leadership. Sincerely, James Dantic Director, Model Laboratory School
