The song speculates on what those people who doubted Christ would say about Jesus being able to perform a miracle that would heal Lazarus. But the comments today are not about Lazarus. My comments are able the saints around the globe that literally risk their life to be called Christian. Here are some startling statistics about Christian persecution. In 1900 there were 35,000 deaths. It is estimated according to the World Christian Encyclopedia that 45.4 million Christians were martyred in the 20th century. In 2005 an estimated 171,000 Christians were martyred and that number increased to an estimated 260,000 in 2008. So here is something you may have missed when reading your bible. You see Christians are like Lazarus. Lazarus heard Jesus call and he came forth. Every Christian is called by the Holy Spirit and our salvation comes with an assurance of eternal glory, which is even more miraculous than the healing Lazarus. In an attempt to stop the conversion of Christians the Jewish priest made plans to kill Lazarus along with Jesus because of his life was proof of Jesus power. So I have to beg the question: “Is your walk with the Lord such that others know you are Christian? Is your message and your life such that others would mistake you for Lazarus and want to kill you because of its power? Verse of the Day John12:9-11 9 Meanwhile a large crowd of Jews found out that Jesus was there and came, not only because of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. 10 So the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus as well, 11 for on account of him many of the Jews were going over to Jesus and putting their faith in him.
