Ode to the Driving Range: 5/22/14 My long lost friend GOLF, oh how you humble me. You humble me like the Browns are humbling Johnny Manziel. After a 5-yr absence, I dusted off the clubs and hit the driving range. I dont know if it was the half-decade hiatus, that I was actually wearing a golf shirt (I hate the way they look on me), or maybe all that fat on my body was getting in the way of my swing, for that first half bucket of balls was blissful! From the first swing, I was Tiger, Tiger Woods yall. Each ball, beautifully sailing through the air with loft and distance unknown to me. And when it was too good to be true...it WAS, too good to be true. Like a bad habit or that ex that just wont take the hint, the old Angela golfer was back. Damn you, little yellow ball!!! You temptress!!!! You lured me in like a mythical siren, boosting my confidence, making me feel beautiful, giving me hope and allowing me to think I CAN actually play this game without greatly exaggerating on my scorecard or having a handicap at levels not known to man, woman, or child, only to shatter the facade that I dont suck as bad as I had remembered. You may have put me in my place today, oh Driving Range, but mercifully, I will be back. And we shall dance again!
