Odisha BJP to stage protests all over state over hike of VAT on petrol, diesel . Balangir : 25 December : BJP to stage protests in front of all dist Head Quarters tomorrow against Odisha Government’s decision to hike VAT on petrol, diesel. This was announced by the party state unit chief K .V. Singhdeo. It should be noted that Petrol and diesel in Odisha will now cost more by Rs 1.49 per litre and Rs 1.33 per litre respectively as the state Cabinet on Wednesday decided to increase the VAT to 23 per cent from 20 per cent. Recently, within a span of just over five months, the retail price of petrol has been reduced by Rs 12.39 per litre. While, within a span of three-and-a-half months, the retail price of diesel has been reduced by 9.17 per litre.
