Often, Christians are known for what they are against rather than what they are for. In the realm of politics, many conservative Christians are known best for being against ....Can you imagine what the church could do today with one hundred people who are so committed to their relationship with Jesus Christ that they are willing to be accountable to one another for doing all the good they can? Kevin Watson What if we Christians took Wesleys second General Rule so seriously that we as a church became known for that instead? Do all the good that you can. If we all took seriously the goal of feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, visiting and helping the sick and in prison, and caring for the souls, what a difference could be made. We often use prayer and money as our way to make us feel like we care about this second General Rule. We pray for these things expecting God to do the work that we should be doing or we throw our money at areas that need help to soothe our conscience. But do we really practice it? Are we more concerned about defending God and the church so that the world only sees our hatred for things? Shouldnt we be exemplifying the lavish love of God? Shouldnt we be known for that?
