Often, people ask, So what is Ad Deum Dance Company all about? We are artists who have placed our hope and trust in the saving grace of Jesus Christ. We believe that His loving sacrifice was offered to wash our guilt, shame, bondage and inner darkness, setting us free again to know and understand the true love of God. We are Christians, but we do not seek for a pious or organized religion. We simply wish to follow the guidance and example of Jesus in a relationship that is living, true and life giving. We do not hate people who hold to other beliefs, nor do we hate gays or lesbians or any other human being, not even those who blatantly disagree with or despise our belief. We dont look for enemies from people. We want to walk in Christs exhortation to love. However, we greatly dislike and oppose hatred, violence, abuse, injustice, bigotry, and the devastation of darkness wherever it is found. We belive darkness and evil to be a spiritual force that can only be truly combated and overcome through the light and love of Christ. We want to be ambassadors of The Light as best we can, so we also bow our hearts to much needed grace, strength and forgiveness. We believe that God, the Creator of all life, has endowed humanity with creative gifts that we call the arts. We believe these gifts were given to enrich the world and every person by offering beauty, hope, comfort, delight, truth and grace, and even a foretaste of eternal glory. We simply want to be good and humble stewards of those gifts and offer blessing in return to those whose lives we can perhaps touch, enliven and honor. We belive that the arts can and should be redemptive offerings that can impact and adorn this world for the betterment of all. As we give ourselves to that mission, we look to God for guidance, and seek to serve and honor Him in our hearts and through our art. We do art as a way of loving and caring for people! We believe that this is the right way to live and work as artists. Ad Deum means To God and we are not ashamed to declare that this is what we desire our lives and talents to be devoted to. However such devotion also calls us to serve, care for and love our fellow brothers and sisters, sharing in the grace of God that we have been given in AbunDANCE. We realize all of this might be an unusual declaration for artists, especially in todays world of relativisim and rationalization. But folks, in all honesty, this is where we stand, mainly because our lives as people and as artists were changed by the love of Christ. We in no way wish to ostricize nor isolate ourselves from the rest of this worlds arts or artists. We just want to make our heartfelt contribution from the depth of our convictions and worldview just like every other artist. We do not engage this art form for any purpose of religious or evangelical propaganda or campaign- we simply do art to the highest degree that we can, as a way of giving back to this world as artists who aspire to serve humanity. In this, we follow our calling in liberty, truth and much-much grace.
