Ogori is an enclave, surrounded by three mountains namely, Omoneye, to the north, agada, to the east and odiobo to the west. Each of this Acient mountains are without histories. A peaceful community blessed by God. I am proud to be identified with this community. Agriculturally we used to rank the best in the old kwara. Gone are those good old days. I kept asking this singular question Where is the ogori i grew up from, the ogori with the pride of agriculture? We are best known for the production of edible crops like, yam, maize, cassava, groundnut, sorghum, just to mention a few. I remember, in my growing up days till the very year i finished from my secondary school at CCHS, that was in 1991. Farming was the in thing. That was before the advent of the #lg. Exactly were you have the yahweh church which is directly opposite baba alabis cashew plantation (Oba or otanmurun) till you get to the famous Odon ogbolo, its all farming work. Early morning on your way to the farm you will see different families at work. You will hear such salutation as wesiye oo uda nemo awoma aye go. Sometimes you see people in large group farming, ie, oriro beyond odon mogbolo all is alloy green with plantations of different varieties. Same applied to emayin, ogela, ikon and the rest is history. I past through same place yesterday and behold, they are just mere grasses and shrubs taking the place of farming. It saddens my heart when i see us depart from what makes our good identity. We must go back to where we belong. Our pride is agriculture, no white colour job can take its place. In my quest which led me to our old #Eregba tune. I watch with much joy and passion when i saw the age grade in the recent wedding held last weekend rolling out one of the pride of our people. I can still remember, how our old and young keeping vigil to record, dance and celebrate this age long Eregba music. I asked myself, where has this Eregba music gone to? Its true that this traditional music was abused in time past and was used to forment troubles and settle scores among the people. But its very clear that it also can as well be used as an instrument of healing and relying unity among us. There comes also the ogegen esen and of course the very best of all okitorokpo music. Can we have all this revive for the bettment of our community? So have your say. Good day and happy new month of April.
