Ogun Model Schools to Open Next Month – Amosun Published on October 14, 2014 by pmnews The first set of students to be admitted into the newly constructed model schools in Ogun state will resume by next month, according to Governor Ibikunle Amosun. He said this during his local government assessment and monitoring tour of Abeokuta South local government council last week. Amosun revealed that academic activities would commence in 11 out of the 15 model schools under construction in the state by November 2014. The governor disclosed that, though, 28 model schools were being proposed in the state, work has only commenced in 15 out of them, with 11 admitting students for the 2014/2015 academic session. He declared that one of the model schools located in Kobape area of Obafemi/Owode local government area would be managed by Abeokuta South local government council. The governor however disclosed that the state government was ready to assist any youth that took interest in farming with land, money and other facilities. Amosun said his administration would make farming more attractive to the youths. “To our youths, I have good news for you. There is this unemployment challenge that we have, there is no job for our youths. We are correcting past mistakes and the only way for us to correct this is to make farming more attractive,” the governor said. He also promised to pay the 13th month salary to civil servants in the state along with other outstanding allowances. Amosun thereafter urged politicians in the state to embrace peaceful campaign strategy, which according to him, “will make it possible for contesting party members to meet and dance pass each other without violence”. In his own remark, the Chairman of Abeokuta South local government council, Engr. Wale Edun appealed to the good people of his area to join hands with the governor for him to be able to complete all the developmental projects under construction across the nooks and crannies of the state.
