Oh, and a strange series of events happened to me on the way to the Baby Shower... Ok there are two things that I NEVER do...one is carry cash with me,(at least not more than $20.00) but my Granddaughter had given me money for her phone bill and I put it in my wallet with plans to deposit it at my banks ATM later...the second thing I have never done in my life, is put my wallet on the top of my car while getting gas...well, on the way to my daughters house, I stopped at QT (on Highway 10 off of 820). A couple of weeks ago I purchased a lock for my gas tank, so when I got out of my car (with my wallet in my hand) to begin fueling, I was having a difficult time unlocking the cap,so I placed my wallet on the top of my car, filled my tank got back into my car and drove away...my daughter lives minutes from there, when I arrived at her house, I noticed my wallet was missing...then it hit me...(like a ton of bricks) I had left my wallet on the top of my car, I quickly drove back to the gas station and went inside, but no one had turned it in...I retraced my route in hopes to find it, but no luck...back at my daughters house, I tried for about 30 minutes to call the Richland hills police, but they werent answering...I finally got through to them only to find out it was not in their jurisdiction...it was in Hurst, so I frantically looked up the number...all the time thinking of all I had to do (call bank, cancel credit card, drivers license and deal with every other important document that I had in that little black leather pouch..) UGH, didnt even know where to begin...when the officer at the Hurst police department answered the phone, I began to explain what had happened...she interrupted and asked my name, I told her and she informed me that one of her officers had just called. He had my wallet and was at the Putt-Putt miniature golf right around the corner from my daughters house...so I raced over there...the officer handed me my wallet, and said he wanted to call the folks who found it to see if they were still there...he told me that these amazing people Rachelle and Robert Cornish, were driving down the street and saw this wallet and all these cards and cash flying all over, they pulled over and Mr. Cornish got out of his car (risking his life) and chased after and picked up my wallet and all of its contents...I was dumbfounded...not only did they stop to pick it up but ALL of the cash was still there! I was fortunate that these people had not left yet and I was able to thank them...the thing is I offered them a small reward (more than once) and they turned it down...Rachelle told me that they tried everything to get to get it back to me, she called her sister and they found me here on Facebook and sent me a private message..so if I hadnt called the Hurst police, I would still have my wallet, she also said she called ATT and T mobile to see if they had a phone number for me, they were actually going to drive to Arlington to return it to me...but then she told me that she spotted a police officer and decided to hand it over to him...(I cant remember his name) and that he decided he was going to hang around there in case I called the police station because if not, he would have to turn it in and it would be locked up until Monday...I am just in awe of the Cornishes...just when you think that there is a lack of good people in the world, something like this happens to instill your faith...I am one extremely grateful, very lucky woman...I only wish that they would have taken a reward...I wonder if they even know how much that meant to me...nothing I could ever do could repay them enough...and all of this, because of some careless act on my part...I hope some day I can somehow repay them for this great act of kindness...to Rachelle and Robert Cornish and to the amazing police officer...all I can say is THANK YOU...a thousand times THANK YOU!!! I will never,ever forget this...I feel like Ive won the lottery!
