Oh and lets return to the NHLs East Coast bias and specifically lack of respect for the Kings. This is the Kings team which has won 2 of the last 3 Stanley Cups and got beat at the last hurdle in the Conf Champs by the other winner. The Kings who achieved this with the same core players AND under a GM who built them from perennial losers ( Yep I remember the hurt of all those days, all those seasons of futility) and the same coach So coach of the year award voting - Roy wins - no problem there fantastic job - go down the list of voting - lets find Sutt - list goes down to 14th in voting SUTT DOESNT APPEAR - 2 time Stanley Cup winning coach doesnt qualify in top 50% of coaches in year he won 2nd cup and led his team back from 0 3 and 3 game 7s - thats just plain CRAP! Oh and GM of the year - who wins - Murray from the Ducks. What did they win? What has he built? Kings whipped his teams arse - Kings built by Deano who comes 3rd? He BUILT the team that won 2 cups, won this year against all the odds, he traded for Gabby who led POs in goals,he drafted Toffoli and Pearson the 2 rookies he had the guts to promote and create the 70s line that pushed the Kings to the Cup. He went out and got Carter and Richards. He even knew what he was getting when he did a 3 way trade to get Mr Game 7 J-Dub The Stick ConnSmythe winner. Perhaps even more importantly he KNEW NOT to overpay for Kovalchuk and Brad Richards when the pressure was on to win and give up silly money and years (Where are they and their fat contracts now - Kings beat them both in the Cup Finals). Deano was a slam dunk. (Even more than Kopi) That decision is just plain disrespectful Anyway it will piss off the Kings - lets see what a motivating coach, rue leader of a GM and REALLY tight group of players make of all this nonsense NEXT year!
