Oh, this is rich, plenty of metaphors for modern day Spain for those want to play. That would be 5 million used tires (count em) on 98,000 square meters of tire cemetery 35 km south of Madrid/50 km north and a little east of Toledo. It would be right across from the Sesena development of El Porcero and, for those of you playing at homes outside of Spain, El Porcero was a developer who built this 40-60,000 apartment development, to bring affordable housing to the masses during the boom time. The market/economy collapse, of course, means its a ghost...monstrosity, I suppose, a monument to cementhead obsession. Oh, the tire cemetery was declared illegal in 2003 and a crime against the environment a few years later, but those wheels of Spanish justice just move like greased lightning, dont they? Supposedly theyre going to start shredding the tires soon, which is why were reading about the tire dump for the first time now.
