Ohakim tackles Ararume: I have not been found wanting As if Chief Ikedi Ohakim, former governor of Imo State under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a governorship aspirant under the party for the 2015 governorship election in Imo State, was throwing an open challenge to his accusers and detractors to prove their allegations of corruption against him, especially his brother, Senator Ifeanyi Ararume, who caused him the 2011 governorship election, and who is still aspiring for the same post in the 2015 governorship election, he said that he remains the only governor in Imo State that is not corrupt. He spoke at the 2014 Transfiguration Week of the Cathedral of the Transfiguration of our Lord (CATOL) in Owerri yesterday and said that despite the allegations of corruptions and abuse of office made against him by his political enemies to pull him out of the government house in 2011, he remains the only governor in Imo State who has not been found wanting in character and conduct and in all aspects of public life. Ohakim also said that because he has not been found wanting in any standard, he has not been locked up by the security agencies and has therefore enjoyed his liberty as a free and good citizen. He added that since he left office as governor of Imo State in 2011 he has been happier and healthier. He said: “I am the only governor in the state that has not been found wanting and has not been locked up anywhere despite all allegations leveled against me, I look healthier and happy today than when I was a governor”. Ohakim also thanked God for the blessings he has bestowed on him, pointing out that August 10th is a special day to him because it was the day he launched his Clean and Green Project that kept the state as the cleanest city in the whole of the country throughout his tenure as the governor of Imo State between 2007 and 2011. He added that it was on the 10th of August that God blessed him with his first son. “When I look at this day, I have a flashback in my life that I have so much blessing in the month of August I was born in August, and exactly on the 10th of August 2007, I launched one of the most outstanding project of my administration called Clean and Green Initiative. God Almighty also blessed me with my first son, so I have a lot to thank God”, he said. At the church service were Ohakims arch rival, Senator Ifeanyi Ararume; Rt. Hon Emeka Ihedioha, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu; the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere; and other top political leaders in the state. The Venerable AC Chukwuocha who presided over the church service gave gifts to his guests such as the Holy Bible and umbrella. But delivering a sermon during the church service, Ven. A. C. Chukwuocha who spoke on the theme: the transformation experience of serving God and Gods people, taken from the books of Dan. 3:1-7, Matt 17:1-8 and Dan 4:24-33, stated that as children of God, people ought not to allow pride to get into them as it was with King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, who after his dream was interpreted by Daniel, became intoxicated with it and regarded himself above God and mad a golden image of himself that everybody in Babylon must bow down and worship; forgetting that God does not share his glory with anyone. Ven Chukwuocha also said that at every point in life Christians should always work in togetherness faith in God.
