Ok Everyone this is being posted for the founder of the Wing Foundation Rescue that we also run for unwanted, neglected and abused birds that we rescue, recuperate and find new loving homes. We would normally not ask for your help bur if you can it would be great, here is a little about the story from the founder of the Wing Foundation on what has just happened.... .Just did a true and very dire rescue of an Umbrella cockatoo yesterday - got a call from a lady in Oregon who had heard of me through our Facebook, and had been turned down by every single rescue she contacted regarding this bird, and in desperation, she called me. The bird was located in Visalia - the owner kept it in a small rusted cage with no toys and very little food or water- it prolapsed its cloaca twice and had two surgeries (by a non-avian vet) to repair it. Because the bird was not properly cared for after the surgeries, it prolapsed again, and the owner was going to release it into a walnut field to fend for itself. Fortunately, some people got word of this and took the cockatoo away from this man. Then they called me - and I agreed to help. Got the bird yesterday, took him into Jean Smith for evaluation - he will require a third surgery and the prognosis is guarded, but I have to try. He is adorable, sweet, and quiet bird, and talks. Hes supposedly around 3 years old. I already love him. I wondered if we could post something under The Wing Foundation regarding raising the funds to pay for his surgery - not sure what the cost is yet, but even with Dr. Smith, it will probably be in the hundreds. NO OTHER RESCUES, including rescues in Oregon, California, and Washington, stepped up to help this bird. But I did. If you want to help, here is how you can do it!! We do have pictures but they are too graphic for our audience!
