Ok, a few days ago I brought up GridEx II. I am actually surprised that by now the internet isnt buzzing all over the place with viral disinformation as to exactly whats going on here. There are few sites Ive found that misrepresent the exercise as the grid is going down. Ok, the grid is not going down. I dont want to get into a long, drawn out diatribe about exactly what the grid is, but suffice it to say...first of all, there is a reason this was named GridEX II. Like...maybe there was a GridEX two years ago, which was a complete non-event, and this is merely the sequel. And we all know that the sequel is rarely as good as the first movie. Ok, so here is the scoop. GridEX II is ostensibly a game. A simulation. A what if. It is a COMPUTER simulation of a terrorist attack on portions (or potentially all the portions) of the national electric grid. It allows utilities, government and other first responders to practice their disaster recovery processes in a SIMULATED environment. Ok? I mean, maybe this is so patently obvious and thats why the preppers, fear media, truthers and conspiracy-ists seem to have largely ignored it. Or maybe itll sprout wings in the next day or so. Let me just say that, like GridEx, its predecessor, it is less of an event than Y2K. So sleep well tonight, there is enough going on in the world to keep you worrying...dont add this to it. :)
