Ok here is the update. Will is now 12weeks old, (37 weeks corrected) and 5lb 4.5 ozs! He is gaining well!! He is 17.5 in long now. Will had a routine cranial ultrasound this morning and the results were normal. He also had another follow-up eye exam that went well, too! The dr said everything lookd good and that hell check them again in in 3 weeks. Will has had a small setback respiratorally. On Wednesday last week he started to dsat a bit and required more oxygen. At this point hed been on the nasal canula at room air for a couple days and had been nursing regularly and then being tube fed for the rest of his feeding. On the way home from Detroit he required his air flow and his oxygen to go up and was put in the high flow canula upon returning. He is still on high flow and us slowly being weened. The dr says he has bronchopulmonary dysplasia or BPD. This is a result of him being early and having such sick lungs. So far, there is no official talk of when well go home. My guess is it could be a few more weeks. He has to be weened off the high flow and on a nasal canula and he has to be eating ad lib/ demand? .....we may go home feeding him with his tube still. Well see. Sorry about the lateness of this update. I planned on posting sooner but the nurse thought we should bathe William and I wont argue with that!! Then I had to do kangaroo care to warm him up and get home so I could pump but I was on the phone with an important call.....and so on. Thank you for your patience...lol
