Ok my FB family, the fashion show was great! My right foot was bothering me when I got home Thursday afternoon. I took a look at my foot, to my surprise my right big toe was swollen & red. Ugh, an infection in big toe. I just had a pedicure on Monday so my feet would look good when I went into surgery the next day. Well I soaked my foot in epsom salt. So now Im upset, take the polish off, sand off the acrylic, shave the nail down to almost nothing & boom, clear fluid starts coming out. soak my foot in peroxide. I ended up doing this off & on all night. In between that I had to drain the fluid from under my lung. I was a little nervous. I thru the drainage, trying to apply the new bandage was so hard. It was my lymphedema hand & arm kept cramping up, in addition to my arm being stiff from being tied over head during the surgery, so I couldnt get the bandage on right. I had the meltdown of all meltdowns! I was so tired, my toe was throbbing, I cried so hard! This clearly was one of my hardest challenges. I called my niece & birthday twin Monica. She said, Aunt Dawn its ok, cry, let it out, you work so hard at getting healthy. I told her this is the hardest thing Ive ever had to do! We talked until I stopped crying & felt better. My son Michael called me right after and said Mom are ok? I told him about my meltdown & he said, you havent been sleeping for the last few weeks maybe you should have cancelled participating in the fashion show. I realized something in that moment. I felt that doing the fashion show, or anything else big like that after a mental & physical trauma like this plural drain catheter surgery, is my way of finding my balance. I think I wouldve felt defeated or something, if I didnt do it. Today I am feeling very balanced! Im definitely a work in progress! Hugs & Health!
