Ok rant time. I have no problem donating to classrooms. I fully appreciate teachers to do not get paid enough and spend way to much out of pocket so every one of my kids goes to school the first day with an extra bag of supplies for the class. Then we still donate the $20 per art class or whatever other donation is necessary. BUT when we are asked to donate $5 for a Build a Bear to be the class mascot?! Umm we have to pause.. really with all the funding cutbacks thats where you want to have money donated? Not for new books or art supplies or heck even an art/music docent? Then do the math $5 x 22 kids in the class.. really you want to spend over $110 on a bear? Hey how about asking for a bear donation? Lets all raise our hands who would love to donate a soft animal from our kids massive collections. Switch them into different rooms so nobodys feelings are hurt or first one in wins. Besides didnt we do this in Pre-School whats the value in 1st grade? Sorry someone needs to convince me that this is a wise use of my money. Rant End. Discuss
