Ok so 3 bizarre things happened today ranging from the stupid to just plain disturbing. Firstly, outside Discovery Mall (next door) I saw an armoured Personnel vehicle all by itself for at least half an hour! I think thats the right way to describe it but put it this way: its what was used to attack Chuck Norris and Rambo in the movies! It was clearly an army vehicle with very high calibre machine guns on both ends. This was right on the beach outside the neighbouring hotel. Maybe Im overreacting, I just found it disturbing to randomly see a fully armed army vehicle in a civilian zone. It was right next to the beach with children around! Secondly, I saw two men walking near Legian Street but one was very firmly grabbing the arm of the other (almost as though it was by force) and for quite some time. I wont speculate as to why this was happening, as it could have been for any reason but again this is something I have never seen in my life, at least to this extent. Third, I dropped by an Indomart, and took 3 things to the til. The cashier scanned them, went to the other side of the store, picked up a random item, brought it back and scanned it too. She then proceeded to pack the surprise fourth item despite the surprised look on my face. Fortunately once I spoke up she deleted the fourth item from the til so I didnt have to pay for it. I worked in retail for 7 years in the west but this has got to be one of the most stupid things I have ever seen! I walked out in complete bewilderment. It seemed a bit too obvious of a rip off attempt so Im not sure why she did that. Im not sure what to make of all of this so Im sending it to Bali Crime Reports group too, as hopefully the more experienced expats have a better understanding of todays weirdness.
