Ok so I finally saw Doctor Who : Deep Breath. Im rather confused by what I just watched? How can something be both good and bad at the same time. (Spoiler alert) Clara suddenly being a 3 dimensional well written character as opposed to the bubbly ditz pressing red buttons and talking in 3rd person. Also now she is a hardened cynic who talks like Elizabeth Bennet and has been upgraded to Hero status while the doctor is a bumbling man making rude comments about being Scottish...Im so confused. Then bringing back everyones favorite Lesbian dinosaur woman and having her script hit you over the head with the fact that she is a lesbian and has to hide her relationship under a veil of secrecy (get it, blunt double meanings) which makes up the entire script of the episode. Unlike before when Doctor Who was a slick well written subtle knife that made you love it cause it was so clever and you self congratulated yourself on figuring out the subtext. This beats you over the head with whatever meanings are on the screen like the Doctor/ Clara shipping coming to an end when the Doctor admits to having had feelings for her in a previous incarnation but not now. Which was undermined by his looking at her like Mr. Darcy looking at Elizabeth as she boards the carriage in the HBO Pride and Prejudice. Then practically guilting me into liking the new Doctor by having a previous one implore me through the phone scene to like him. Really Moffat, guilt tactics...even that is beneath you. That being said the episode was really really good and I cant for the life of me figure out why but it does make me want to watch more but I doubt I will.
