Ok so it was not the Old Orient Express from Singapore, which still runs in luxury with private berths and restaurant car with on train entertainment. Nevertheless, this was the standard sleeper train going from Malaysia to Thailand. Second class, yes, but the guards look after travellers quite well, assembling the seats into beds and putting the sheets in for you and giving you your blanket and pillow and telling you when to get off. I had the upper berth which is cheaper than the lower. In the morning I tracked the landscape at six am for quite a while, and it was eerily strange for several hundreds of miles, passing from Hat Yai, Songkala, Surat Thani, Ko Samui and all the way up the Gulf Coast to beach town Hua Hin which is second home of the Royal Family of Thailand. Hua Hin has the most amazing long clean beach of pure sand with horse riding and nice restaurants, nothing overdone, quite discreet. ( Sorry, Still havent managed how to figure out how to get rid of the location unknown setting on I movie. Anyone got any suggestions?)
