Ok, so, you will never guess what I did. I have a sorority sister coming in for the Ga. game this weekend and I had a hankering for barbecue. Have no clue how to make barbecue. So, somebody told me I needed to get some pork butts. I googled how to make real easy barbecue out of pork butts in the crock pot. Got a recipe!! Simple enough for me! Called for a clove of garlic and a clove of ginger. Now, I know what a clove of garlic is, but not ginger. I have seen it but have never bought it. Comes in all sizes, but doesnt look clove-like. I bought a small piece, 2 butts, and the rest of the ingredients, which amounted to 4. Four ingredients. Perfect. Had to go by the vet to pick up some things for the dawg and while Im driving I keep thinking how big do they mean when they say a clove of ginger? Get to the vet and am at the counter and just cant get that out of my mind. Some ginger is as big as my fist. How much do they mean? So, while standing there I just look out at the people in the waiting room and say, Could anybody tell me how big a clove of ginger is? No one seemed surprised or looked at me like I was nuts. This nice old lady told me not to use more than a half inch of that ginger. She said ginger is really strong. So glad I asked. The recipe said to cook these butts for 12 hours. So last night at 10 pm, with only 2 mistakes adding the 4 ingredients, I turned on the crockpot and began slow cooking the butts. I want to tell you all that I was SUCCESSFUL!!!!!! Hot Damn, I have barbecue. You guys inspired me to cook a meal!! Now if I only knew how to make slaw. Maybe I should go back to the vet and ask?
