Ok the subject of bullying ..... When my daughter was in junior - TopicsExpress

Ok the subject of bullying ..... When my daughter was in junior high she was a victim of being bullied. She tried the obvious thing, to walk away. When things go to be too much she started informing the teachers what was going on. The teachers brushed her off as being over sensitive and the kids pegged her as a tattle tale. So we finally told her to stand up for herself. So one day when things were getting too much she finally exploded. She freaked on the kid that was picking on her and shoved him. Now I got a phone call from the school telling me that my daughter was violent at school and if it happened it again she would be suspended. So I asked what had happened to provoke her into such a reaction when she was a rather meek girl. So I was told about the incident. I asked the school what disciplinary action was being taken towards the kid that was harassing her and continued to do so. I was told that his parents were also getting a call but they were limited to what they could do about bullying. So I said that I supported my daughters reaction and she would continue to stick up for herself as she sees fit as long as the bullying continued. And it did. With her biological dad abandoning her and being bullied as school my girl fell into a deep depression. She wasnt acting out so the school councilor didnt help her. Things got to the point that she thought daily about suicide. So we dragged her to a youth councillor at mental health. She spent ALOT of time with this councilor and we finally have our daughter back!!! She worked through her abandonment issues, she learnt new skills how to handle her depression and bullying. This councillor ultimately saved my daughters life!!!! The system was failing her and we had to take her outside of the system to get real help. Now bullying is real!!! It happens in schools, in the work place and even at home. It shouldnt be a taboo subject. And people who bully should be ashamed. They have no self esteem and are pathetic. BULLIES SUCK!!!! There thats my peace on this anti-bullying day. Today I wear my pink with pride as my daughters life was saved, and also with sorrow as I know of many lives who were not. My heart is heavy for those that lost their lives due to bullying.
