Ok time for what did and didnt work this weekend. Shelter - TopicsExpress

Ok time for what did and didnt work this weekend. Shelter doesnt warm up from fire. Too tall, and the reflector wall needs alot of work. The porch made alot of difference from rain and snow fall. Flash fire from snow falling into hot grease wasnt fun. Still, bacon was nice and crispy. Re adjusted upper vent in rear wall made smoke flow out easier when wind shifted. Gear wise. Broad brimmed hat is a must, treated wool felt. Surplus german wool pants performed excellent. I took a wool shirt, heavy columbia wool jacket, and a packable synthetic down jac/vest. Really needed a better moisture barrier, both wool, while warm got pretty wet. Was really glad i took my 15deg bag and air mattress from big agnes. Isle Royal Sr. Carried like a champ. Awesome piece of gear. Bahco Laplander and a 20in wetterlings were great. Im really glad i traded for the wetterlings back. My buddy brought his Jarvanpaa Leuku, and used it alot. Seemed to work well. I took the BHK Woodcrafter and Backwoodsman, and the SK5 Blackbird. The woodcrafter excelled at feathersticks, the backwoodsman too. The sk5 needs some time on a whetstone, but it batoned well. USGI mess kit, Mors pot, and my snow peak spork were good. I used the Pathfinder GI style canteen and large cup, both were awesome. Gotta remember my oil for my tools. Checked my tool bag and didnt have my oil, and spoon knives. BIG SHOUT OUT to my new ENO pack pillow. HOLY COW ITS EFFIN AWESOME!
