Okay I got into a discussion about the contrast of differences of the old testament and the new testament, and the contradictory behavior of the god of the old and new testaments and it is very much deeper than most Christians can understand because most of them are unable to rationally think for themselves when it comes to trying to develop any real understanding of the scriptures because it requires getting out of their comfort boxes, but I have looked into this and I am developing some understanding of the bible that I would like to share, the real reason for the differences of these books is that one is a much older and originates from Judaism, in the old testament god was the god of the Jews, in other words he was a territorial god, a god for only one group of peoples, Judaism and the old testament and its teachings are very much different from Christianity, like night and day and I will provide a few examples for instance in the old testament there is no hell, yes I know you can find hell in your trusty old king James version, but the word hell in the KJV is a mistranslation among many, the original word is Sheol which means the grave , now the reason there is no hell in the old testament is because the teachings of Judaism were concerned with their god in the here and now, there was no concept of an afterlife in Judaism, now another interesting thing to note is the lack of mention of Satan in the old testament and the very different character or role he is playing in comparison of the old and new, so if you want to develop an understanding of who Satan really is in the bible teachings one should look to the first time he is used in the bible as a character and this is the story of job, now some would say now wait the first time he is a character is in the garden of Eden as the serpent, and l must correct these people, the serpent is not Satan, this garden of Eden scenario Is a symbolic story from Judaism that is an attempt to make some type of sense of the origins of mankind, in Judaism the serpent or snake is a symbolic creature that represents KNOWLEDGE, so it only makes sense to have the serpent telling them to eat from the tree of knowledge, anyway back to Satan and the old testament, Satan the actual word is ha-Satan and that doesnt quite mean Satan and this is very important, it means the adversary, or the accuser, or in other words ha means the and Satan means accuser or adversay, so Satan isnt even a name its a title, now back to the story of JOB or the only time Satan is any kind of character in the old testament, to make things short Im going to tell this story in paraphrase, in the story of JOB God is boasting about how good a servant Job is to him and Satan says well he is only good because youve given him everything but take all that is good away from him and I bet he wouldnt be such a good servant, so god says no you go do it, so god sends Satan to take away jobs possessions, kill all his kids, and destroy his health with boils, so theres not much worse that could happen to a person, and god let Satan do this to him as a test of jobs faith, so what you notice in this story is quite the contrary in relation to the new testament teachings of who and what Satan is, in this story Satan is playing a role as an Angel of god who is carrying out gods will, he cannot do anything without gods permission, he is on gods side, now try to reconcile this with the idea of a perfectly moral, benevolent, unchanging god, who is a loving father figure with the fact that we see this cruel almost sadistic story of the trials of job and how it was all just a bet that Satan had with god, and try to reconcile the new testament idea of what Satan is as the arch enemy of god that god hates because of his wickedness or arrogance or whatever, and this idea that god is going to come down and kick the scaly reptile satans ass, and Satan supposedly I guess thinks he can win? He surely would be smart enough to know better right? If Satan is so clever and so much smarter than man, he would surely know he could not possibly win, I mean even Christian Know he is on the losing side, so what would be the point for him to even try? It all makes no sense when you look at things rationally. If you are a thinking and investigating the foundation of this religion you come to realize they are developing their theology, in other words making it up as they go along hahaha
