Okay!! I know Im a day late and a dime short, and I confess that I never heard of Pharrell Williams until about 15 minutes ago. That he is HUGE gladdens my heart. However, what caught my attention is that this young man, despite his celebrity, seems to use his own head...often in the face of adversity and condemnation...to figure stuff out for himself and speak truth to power rather than going for the okie dokie MEMEs, or worse, peddling the okie dokie MEMEs as most of his so-called African-American celebrity colleagues do, either volitionally or because thats what their handlers tell them to do. Needless to say, I have become an instant and huge Pharrell Williams fan and intend to spend some time over the next few days becoming acquainted with his stuff. The Money Quote... “It looked very bullyish; that in itself I had a problem with,” Williams said, referring to released surveillance video that allegedly shows Brown forcefully stealing cigarillos from a store shortly before he was fatally shot by Officer Darren Wilson. “Not with the kid, but with whatever happened in his life for him to arrive at a place where that behavior is OK. Why aren’t we talking about that?”
