Okay, Ill play along . . . things you may not know about me-ish. 1. My cousin, Warren Oakes, III played drums for the national recording act AGAINST ME! until he quit to open a restaurant in Florida. 2. I stopped writing music for 10 years or so until my good friend Jimmy George passed away. Not too long after he died I woke up at 2 a.m. and wrote the Christian pop song, He Wont Walk Away (Boone Daughdrill of The Band Perry later played drums on the demo of the song). 3. Since he put it out there . . . in high school I was in a band that kicked Keith (KeKe) Schultz - my current bandmate in The 484 South Band) out for missing practice all the time. I didnt vote him out, but I didnt leave when the other members decided for him too either. Probably like hell do when they kick me out for missing the last couple of practices with 484! ha ha What comes around goes around I guess! 4. I was invited down to Baton Rouge to sing Whats Your Name with The 484 South Band at their first paying gig. Only song I sang that night. Brady Bagwell was singing lead at the time. 5. The song The Road, off the first 484 South album, was written after a sort of 484 South gig (me, Keith, Twain and another drummer) at BIRDIES ROADHOUSE near Bogalusa, LA. It was written when we got back to the hunting camp in the a.m. The song pretty much stayed as was until we recorded. The river flowing by my window was the Pearl River just steps to the east of the camp. 6. I was the lead actor in Lawrence Countys first community theatre groups very first production. It was the Broadway musical Sunday In The Park With George. I played the painter George Seurat. 7. I was with Michael Schultz when he killed an eight foot tall squirrel. Details will remain sketchy unless he comments about this. I know its not music related, but there were a few high notes hit! ha ha
