Okay due to a post that I commented on about the president, I realize that apparently there are still folks that do not get it. As half the people posted that young people want healthcare but cant afford it. If you are under the age of 26 years old and are a college student, there ARE really cheap healthcare plans out there. First if you are under the age of 26 and are a full time student, you can still be covered by your parents plan if you parents are willing to do so. Family coverage depending on the job place can be some of the cheapest rates if the company your parent works for has a great family insurance rate. If that is not an option... meaning the company your parents work for does not offer a discounted rate for family coverage, then you have other options. Go to your student union and check to see what plans your college is offering. Many universities now have student coverage plans. Some can be covered in the cost of tuition, others are as cheap as 10 bucks a month. In other words, if you skip a beer you can get coverage. Be aware that those plans might have restrictions but they are better than no coverage. (case in point case western in ohio and college of charleston in sc have a similar plan that allows you to get doctors visits and emergency care at the school clinic. then will cover services at an emergency care or urgent care center if the school clinic is closed) If that is not an option, (which there are very few that do not have some type of student coverage now) than contact BCBS of your state. They have student plans that run as low as $20.00 a month which can continue even after graduation at a reduced rate for 6 months to a year to allow you time to find a job. And yes i am sure.... Its what I am grad school for. and what i went to undergrad for.
