Okay friends.... OPEN MOUTH: INSERT FOOT. Or - TopicsExpress

Okay friends.... OPEN MOUTH: INSERT FOOT. Or perhaps a heaping slice of humble pie. I had the oppurtunity to see the Noah movie, and on balance...I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT, it was not what I hoped (in vain) it could have been (and what some sources led me to believe). There was things I like about it. Images that I appreciated and that touched me. There was more that I disliked. And some things I hated. From the beginning, one of my concerns were the many people sharing reviews of the movie that had not seen it, and information that was erroneous. That was indeed the case...and several criticisms were baseless and false. Others...had merit. And honestly, there we other, what to me were more serious discrepencies, that I have not heard expressed at all (or well.) It is for those more serious changes (which I will detail later) that must cause me to withdraw any support for this film, and a strong caution to those who, like me, hoped that some of the additional material (that people objected to) were just drawn from Apochryphal sources they were unfamiliar with...like the Books of Enoch, Jubilees, Jasher and Jewish tradition. Indeed...there was elements of that. But there were a few things that (intentionally or unintentionally) are more akin to Gnostic thought. I have watched interviews and read the Directors comments about those things- and as represented seemed plausible and reasonable- even thoughtful. But as they were portrayed in the film- they crossed lines that I am not confortable with. And so...let me offer an apology to anyone who was influenced by my earlier post to keep an open mind to the movie- at least to let it stand or fall on its own, apart from much of the errneous early rerviews. I confess that I wanted it to be good, and hoped it would bring to some people ideas and elements they had not considered or heard, and would be interested to study and learn more. And of course, draw people to think about the condition of our world and the judgement to come...we are living in the Days of Noah, just a Jesus said we would be. With this movie, I stated I was going out on a limb that it might have merit...well this limb broke, and I shall not be going out any more for movies like this in the future. Lesson learned. I will write some more tonight, adding this and ther commentary to that original post (below). https://m.facebook/?_rdr#!/story.php?story_fbid=10152244884923762&id=670803761
