Okay, let me get this straight. After hanging out drinking with - TopicsExpress

Okay, let me get this straight. After hanging out drinking with her sorority sisters, this 18 year old college sophomore left the party to walk home alone. She texted a friend(s) at 1:20 a.m. Friday night/Saturday morning to say that she was lost. Soon after, her cell phones battery died. On Sunday, friends realized that nobody had seen her in a day and a half (A DAY AND A HALF), so they reported her missing to police. ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?!?! In college I often pulled sisters out of frat houses because our group was leaving, and if you came with us then you left with us (Tough shit, make out with him another night, this is my watch and youre coming home with me. Right. Now.). If I ever got a text from a drunk friend at 1:20 a.m. saying she was lost, I would have moved heaven and earth to locate her IMMEDIATELY. I wouldnt have let her leave the party by herself in the first place, but even if I found out that a friend of a friend, someone I didnt even know personally (a freaking stranger!!!*), was drunk and lost in the city at 1:20 a.m., I would get in a taxi and find her drunk ass and get her home where she belongs. I know Im a protective Mama Bear and always have been, but am I really that far off the norm? And please let me state, I am NOT victim blaming here. Im FRIENDS-of-the-victim blaming. Im sorority-sisters-of-the-victim blaming. Im people-should-take-care-of-each-other-what-the-hell-is-wrong-with-you-people FURIOUS that this girl is missing because it could have easily been prevented in several different ways. Im praying and praying and praying for her family and that shes somehow miraculously found alive and well. Young people. Old people. All people. TAKE CARE OF EACH OTHER FOR THE LOVE OF GOD AND EACH OTHER. **Especially** in moments when we cant take care of ourselves.
