Okay, so there is a lot of folks happy about minimum wage - TopicsExpress

Okay, so there is a lot of folks happy about minimum wage increasing here in Nebraska. I only have a few questions. If the average inflation since 2010(when the minimum wage was increased to 7.25/hour) is 9.2% how does that war rent a 24% wage increase? I understand that as things get more expensive people need to be able to afford it. What I dont understand is how it is only minimum wage that increases. We all pay the same prices at the grocery store, so why dont we all get a 24% wage increase? I understand that the idea is to reduce the amount of people on state aid, but in the same time frame thread as been an increase from 32-35% of people on said aid.. so Im no mathematician, but that means the last time they increased it didnt achieve that goal. So what are we really accomplishing by this? Hows about instead of this raising of minimum wage every 3-5 years we all get a cost of living adjustment proportional to the increase in the cost of living. Invest in the education of our citizens so they can qualify for higher paying jobs. And then maybe we can stop punishing people for making more money than others.
