Okay this is going to be a long chapter for Ashley as I promised with two more chapters following so afterwards. Fallen Angel, Rising Demons (Ashers Story: the excitement of new friendship) I was in a smaller village it looked familiar but the edges of the memory were fuzzy, I looked 14 in human years but in all actuality I was 140 years old, it was my first time looking for the docks to buy some fish and water herbs, it felt like this was so new I had been to such a place but it was so familiar. As I walked slowly around taking in everything a gust of warm wind blew through the area the smell of salt hanging thickly in the air. There were many small buildings along the dock and I could see huts off in the distance where these people lived. I wondered how amazing it would be to live on the beach and always have fish and people near by. I lived in the forest in a little cabin with a few people in a small village, where not many people went and if they were they were rushed into a building us younger people called this visitors house so the younger ones wouldnt get involved or too interested. We were told it was to keep us safe from the dangers of man. Ahead of me I spotted a girl who seemed my age, she wasnt thin but wasnt huge, I could feel strength and happiness emanating from her core. Her eyes were a bright stormy blue, hair a murky blonde that made me think if the sun could rain that would be its color except her hair had one very interesting trait she had one deep bright purple streak of a shade and hue I had never before seen. She was wearing deck hand clothes that if you were a nobleman you would say were rags. I was also shocked to see a female wearing pants out in public which in my village was looked down upon. though I envied her for those pants wishing I could wear such things. I slowly walked up to her with a nervous excitement forgetting all the scenes around me. Miss do you know where Mr. Faegon (fay gone) is I am to buy some things from him and I have never been to this area before. I said crossing my arms behind my back and smiling at her. The girl looked up at me in shock probably not expecting someone to walk up so early in the morning. She smiled at me and laughed. Yeah I can tell you are not from around here your clothes and politeness give it away. Come on girly I shall take you to my father. Oh the name is Asher by the way. She dropped the net she was working with on the side of the dock and walked up to me taking my arm in hers. What is your name girly? My name is Rayne I said nervously never really being in such close contact with people outside the village. I did not use my soul name Treacle because if one knows that name they could gain control over me or so said the elder shaman who I apprenticed under. I shyly looked at Asher as she dragged me forward with reckless speed to the stall at the very end right side of the dock where her father was. Hey! I have a person here to speak to you dad. She shouted loudly as we got near to her father stall. I was shocked be the strange behavior it was nothing like I was used to. Hello, Mr. Faegon, I am here to pick up the order for Elder Leahs order and your payment is right here. I began to ruffle through my bag for the bag of coins I was given when we got to the stall. When I looked up a frighteningly burly man with dragon like features stood before me. Immediately I was afraid of this man till he smiled a warm smile down at me as I handed him the coin pouch. You must be Leahs new apprentice, you know she doesnt take people in like that anymore, you must really be something. His deep booming voice had surprisingly silky sound. What is your name young one? I am Rayne sir. They say I am special and that is why I was chosen to work underneath Leah. She picked me herself. I said surprised. Ah, I see you must be special indeed... Well her order is not quite done. You can wander around or help Asher with her chores until its ready then I will come find you. He stated. Ill bring her with me, wouldnt want her getting lost. Asher shouted as she dragged me away. Since your bringing her with lend her some clothes we wouldnt want her dress getting dirty. Ashers dad shouted to her. --- It was mid day and I was wearing a pair of black tight fitting pants and a tan deck hand shirt, Asher embellished my outfit with a red scarf like belt and a red scrap of fabric to hold back my long brown hair. She was wearing something similar but with deep purple where I had red her pants were dark brown and she had a white shirt. We were down at the docked ship checking and loading the supplies and tightening and rolling up ropes. So Rayne where do you live? Asher asked me as she swiftly climbed some ropes to tighten the ropes on the mast. I live in the village of wind about 10 miles away from here to the east. I smiled at her. What do you aspire to be when you are older. Se asked. I am going to be a shaman when I get older, thats what I am told to do, because I will be good at it and it will help my village. What about you? Thats lame you should do what you want not what you are told. I saw her get lost in her thoughts. Me, I am going to be a pirate and get all the treasure I can and see all sorts of places and travel the world. That sound so dangerous. I think being a Shaman is a much better choice. I looked at her the conviction in her eyes I saw a flash of her being older on her own ship, none of the details were clear but she was happy. I hope you succeed though I can tell you will make it. So you do anything fun in the village? She asked looking down at me. There is a lot to do there but when I have free time I read at the spring on the outside edge of the village and swim or I some times practice magic a little bit. I shyly brushed a strand of hair out of my face. What do you do? Well swimming of course! Also lost of climbing. When I am on the ship helping my dad I read and play tricks on the crew members, keeps them on their toes. I fight with the others my age and train I am the champion of these docks right now. She smiled. You play tricks on people? I gave her an upset look. Thats kind of mean. Also Fighting isnt very lady like. Its out of fun its never meant to hurt anyone just to make everyone laugh, to lighten the mood. She looked at me strangely. Wait a minute... have you never fought anybody? No I am a lady we dont fight... I was watching her as she looked incredulously at me. Asher climbed down from her perch. Rayne you need to learn how to fight. How did you even make it here with out knowing how to fight? There are bandits and slavers all over this area... And what is this nonsense about ladies not fighting? I uh....uh, its how I was taught I supposed. I rode on a wolf to get here. I stammered looking at her. Asher laughed at me. Well you are one lucky girl Rayne. What are you by the way? What do you mean what am I? I am Rayne. I was baffled. No I mean your race silly. She laughed at me. Oh I am a wild elf. Why? What are you? This girl was so interesting and confusing. You dont look like you are just a wild elf their is something more tell me what is it? She bubbled at me, I watched as her eyes shifted from slitted reptilian eyes to normal. If I am something more I do not know. I was brought to the village and placed under their protection. I never knew my parents and dont know who they are. I stated. What are you? How did your eyes do that? Do what? She laughed. Not fair I answered all of your questions. I glared at her making her laugh more. I have decided to teach you how to fight! Your glare and knowing how to fight would make you an interesting opponent. Oh I am half elf and half dragon. She took my arm and started dragging me off toward the beach. You are part dragon? How? Where are we going? Shouldnt we be finishing up with your chores? I gasp as she sped up to where ever she was taking me. Yeah want to see? I am taking you to where I train. She laughed pulling me along. Of course I want to see!!!I have never seen a dragon before! I started to speed up. Asher laughed even more. Of course you have you just didnt realize they were dragons, I will show you when we get there... her laughing voice faded into the darkness --- I saw flashes of memories fly by, Asher training me in fighting, Asher being at my village, us getting into mischief, me riding on the back of a beautiful blue-purple dragon through the water, seeing Ashers cold fire breath for the first time when bandits attacked us on the road, me running away from the village to join Asher on her journey to the lower half of the continent....then more blackness took hold... A soft sad voice was whispering to me Rayne wake up....Rayne what is going on in your head? Suddenly the unrecognizable voice from before these memories came back Do you know what you are Treacle Rayne Storm? Do you know who you are?It laughed knowing I didnt know the answer. -moe
