Old Burra Cottage, Burra SA On a road trip to shoot the Flinders Rangers I decided to make a small detour to a small town called Burra. I knew of a Cottage on a farm in the area that I wanted to visit and photograph. I first found out about this Cottage when I saw a photo of it by Ken Duncan. Ken also won an ARIA awarded for his photograph of this Cottage which was used on the cover of Midnight Oils album, Diesel & Dust. As I drove down Barrier Hwy I noticed many Cottages scattered over a number of farms, but all were beyond their life expectancy. Basically, only a wall or two left still standing. Old Burra Cottage was the only Cottage still standing complete with its tin roof and magnificent appeal. Only just I though. At one time someone lived here, I said as I was photographing it. Someone sheltered here from the rain, the winter months. If the walls could speak there would be many a stories told. Love the Old Burra Cottage.
