Omar debunks PDP argument that tie-up with BJP necessary for flood relief JAMMU, January 05: National Conference leader Omar Abdullah, also the caretaker chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, on Monday rejected the argument of the Peoples Democratic Party that a post-poll alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party was necessary for the state. Writing on Twitter, Omar said his party has been told by the PDP that a tie-up with the BJP was necessary to secure Rs 44,000 crore flood relief. “Shouldnt a state just get its due?” he asked. The NC leader further hit back at those who had criticised him for raising the AFSPA issue. Government formation has been deadlocked in Jammu and Kashmir as no single party won majority in the recently- concluded Assembly Elections. While PDP won 28 seats emerging as the single largest party, BJP finished second with 25 while the NC secured 15 seats. Congress finished fourth with 12 seats, with the remaining seven seats won by either smaller parties or independents. BJP and PDP continue to hold parleys over government formation, even though the latter had mooted a grand alliance with the NC and Congress. The NC, meanwhile, has stated that it was not in talks with the BJP.
