On 1 December 2014 a violent robbery occurred at Nadzab airport in Lae, Papua New Guinea. Approximately 30 heavily armed criminals robbed passengers and caused significant damage to the terminal. Travellers should check with their airlines on possible disruption to flights caused by the robbery. Travellers are reminded that crime rates in PNG remain high, and typically increase in the run-up to Christmas.
